Useful info

Students spend on average £28.15 per week on socialising, according to the 2008 NUS Student Experience report.

Look out for notices around your college or university campus for things to get involved with. The Student Union offers clubs and societies for a range of interests, including culture, sports, dance and music.

There's so much you can get involved with at your college or university but how much time and money will you spend?

Have fun but watch your bank balance and leave enough time for your studies.

Useful info

  • In pubs, there isn't usually service. You have to get drinks at the bar yourself
  • Your students' union gives you the chance to join with other students and to have an influence. It is also a source of advice, support and social activities at university.
  • Students' unions run activities throughout the year, such as trips, events and parties. They also run clubs and societies for a range of interests, including sports, dance and music.
  • If you like going clubbing, find out when clubs have student nights with lower/free entry and cheaper drinks.
  • Remember, the age restrictions on some leisure activities may be different in the UK. Legally, you cannot purchase alcohol or tobacco unless you are 18 or over.
