How to use the International Student Calculator

This website is designed to help you plan and manage your money for study in the UK.
Your aim is to enter your income and expenditure so that you build your budget.

How to build your budget

Step 1

Click on Income to start. Enter your income into each section; Financial Support, Family, Friends and Other, Saving and Banking, and Employment.

You can click on the sections and work your way through these in any order, or you can use the Back and Next Buttons. Read the guidance at the top of each page and use the sliders to select the amount of money or time that you wish to enter. Alternatively, you can type your amount in the box.

Step 2

Click on Expenditure. Work your way through the sections on the left hand side, from Fees to Study.

Step 3

Click on your balance. This shows your budget summary for one year (unless you've chosen to build a shorter budget) - how you have spent your time and money. If it doesn't add up, click Edit your budget and go back and change your decisions.

Things to look out for to help you build your budget

• If you want to translate the website into your own language, then select your language using the Translation function on the top right hand side of the page.

How to monitor your budget
