Useful info

  • International students must have funding in place before coming to the UK. The UK Border Agency requires you to show that you have specific sums of money to cover your course fees and living costs. The amount you need depends on the length of your course. More information is on the UKCISA website and the UK Border Agency.
  • Unless you have a written promise of a scholarship or bursary before you arrive, you cannot depend on it. Make sure you have enough money from other sources.
  • You should contact your local British Council office for funding information. Scholarships are allocated more than one year in advance, so you should start looking for funding at least 18 months before you want to start in the UK. More information here.
  • If you are an EU student studying in higher education, you can check your eligibility for loans by clicking here.
